Mohamed Khodeir is the Founder and Managing Partner of Khodeir & Partners and is a member of the advisory team. Mohamed is a renowned legal figure in the MEA, holding an unparalleled track record of over 22 years advising investors doing business in 4 jurisdictions, with a deal sheet exceeding 50 billion US$.

Mohamed was the former CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (“GAFI”) in Egypt, during a time of major reforms that included issuing of the new Investment Law which is one of the projects he led while serving public office.

Mohamed has demonstrated sound leadership skills throughout his career. Before founding Khodeir & Partners, he was a partner in one of the largest firms in the Middle East and managed two major law offices of that firm in the region and has also overseen expansion in the region including founding its operations in Egypt. Mohamed has been consecutively recognized by legal rating agencies as one of the leading lawyers in the region.

Ahmed Kotb heads the Dispute Resolution Department at Khodeir & Partners and is considered one of the rising figures in dispute resolution. With a wealth of diversified experience with courts and arbitral tribunals, Ahmed has been well recognized for his tenacity and sharp skills by his clients and peers.

For over a decade, Ahmed advised and acted for large corporations in arbitration and litigation matters related to telecommunications, media, hospitality, mining, energy, construction maritime and international trade, financial disputes, shareholders’ disputes, as well as agency and distribution-related disputes. His advice and assistance are regularly sought in cross-borders complex arbitration and litigation matters, often involving application and interplay between laws of different jurisdictions.

Youssef graduated from the Faculty of Law – Cairo University in 1983 and has handled some of the most complex litigation cases in Egypt and Kuwait with almost 40 years of experience in shareholders, banking, commercial, civil and criminal disputes worth billions of US Dollars. 
Youssef oversees complex litigations KP is involved in as well as invoking his negotiation expertise as and when needed.

Youssef has won several shareholders disputes in very challenging situations, that have restored the position of several companies and shareholders, in the most complex situations.

Throughout Hani’s career, he has done a large number of groundbreakers including the establishment of two mobile network operators in Egypt as well as structuring and implementing the merger and acquisitions of few major complex deals. He was proudly behind some of the most prominent IPOs and major transactions during the last two decades across the MENA. 
Hani was one of the key lawyers behind the privatization of some major public-owned Companies. He has continued to advise clients on some of the more creative corporate structures to implement their businesses and some of the best ways to optimize their tax treatment. 
Hani has had leading experience in the field of energy, finance, real estate, and sports transactions, on top of his leadership skills in managing different teams in the region.

Hanan has a unique background and diversified experience in numerous areas of law. Hanan graduated from the first class to graduate from an English Law School in the Middle East, from Cairo University in 1999. She started her career advising clients on arbitration and litigation matters in local prestigious law offices, along with advising clients on corporate commercial law issues and handling due diligence mandates.

Hanan is currently a leading member of our Advisory team and handles numerous transactions both on the equity and debt side along with her media and data protection expertise that our clients look up to.

Hanan currently is focused on commercial advisory and transactional work as well as media and data protection.

Dr Sherif Elatafy is a partner at Khodeir and Partners’ Dispute Resolution department, Associate Professor of civil law at Ain Shams University and Deputy Director of “Institut Franco-Égyptien de Droit”. He is licensed to practice in New York. 
Dr Elatafy possesses a wide experience in international arbitration across the investment, commercial and sports spectra. He serves as party appointed arbitrator, counsel and co-counsel in several arbitration cases held under the auspices of different arbitral institutions such as CRCICA, CAS, ICC, JCAA, PCA, ICSID, Arab Investment Court and US Federal courts, where the applicable laws were Egyptian and GCC laws. 
As part of his duty owed to the legal community, Dr Elatafy was appointed as a member of the legislative committee, established by a presidential decree, to draft the bill of the “Human Blood and Plasma Fractionation Law” subsequently promulgated under law No. 8 of 2021. Given his academic stature, Dr. Elatafy, delivers several lectures and courses of law, including contracts and civil liability and international arbitration, at national and foreign universities in English, French and Arabic languages. He supervises over 10 phd dissertations and master’s thesis. His contributions to legal scholarly writings includes papers and briefed articles, published in renowned international journals, which touches upon controversial and hot topics

Dr. Hazem is a qualified lawyer specializing in arbitration and litigation disputes. Dr. Hazem has a plethora of diverse expertise working with courts and arbitral tribunals in Egypt and Qatar, and both his clients and peers have praised him for his perseverance and keen skills. Dr. Hazem is experienced in handling highly complicated disputes relating to various areas such as Telecommunications, Construction, Oil & Gas, Investment, Corporate, Maritime and Shipping disputes and all the civil and commercial disputes in general. Dr. Hazem has handled cases under most major arbitration centres, including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Swiss Chambers of Commerce (SCC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), and the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA). Apart from his experience as a counsel, Dr. Hazem also regularly serves as arbitrator.

 

Before Khodeir & Partners, Dr. Hazem has been a public prosecutor, a senior lawyer and acting head of dispute resolution in some of the very well regarded international and regional firms. He teaches law at Egyptian, British and US universities. Dr. Hazem is a Professor at Cairo University, Faculty of Law and regularly speaks and publishes on arbitration and construction topics
